Mare Services
We offer a complete breeding service for mares looking to utilise our own diverse range of resident stallions, or external stallions. We are able to take mares for fresh and chilled insemination and natural cover.
We are also able to take mares in to foal down in our purpose built foaling unit with options for mares and foals to stay until weaning if desired.

All mares must be tested for EIA, EVA, CEM and strangles before arrival on stud for any breeding services.
Mare Breeding Services
At Risada Stud we offer AI insemination, fresh/chilled breeding livery and natural cover breeding to our own range of diverse stallions as well as external stallions for chilled semen.
We provide a complete service from start to finish with transparent pricing to take the confusion out of putting your mare in foal.
Space allowing, we offer a range of livery options for mares coming in for breeding to our own fresh and natural stallions, or to external chilled stallions. We have a limited amount of grass livery spaces as well as stabled livery in our foaling units which allow plenty of room to move and socialise. For more social mares we also offer group barn livery. Mares that require hard feed or that are difficult to catch must be stabled. Mares with foals at foot add £2 per day to the daily livery cost.
Mares coming in for breeding to Risada stallions DO NOT have to pay insemination or collection fees.
We work closely with our vet Mark Siddle on a PAYG basis as we have found this to be more cost effective due to our stallions being on-site and able to collect 7 days a week.

Foaling Down
Our purpose built foaling units are all fitted with individual CCTV cameras and we also include the use of foaling alarms in our service. We have an experienced foaling team on-site 24/7 during the season.
We recommend bringing your mare a few weeks before her due date to allow her to settle and get used to us and her environment and for us to get to know her typical behaviours. Monitored daily turnout is provided with overnight stabling and mares are groomed daily.
Mares and foals are then provided a nursery paddock and are paired with another mare and foal of the same age unless requested, to help with socialisation of the foal.
For foals that stay on after foaling we provide basic handling including halter training and picking up feet with routine worming and farriery as required.
